Désirée Meiser – Building Bridges Between Art, Coaching, and Personal Development
Désirée Meiser bridges her extensive experience as an artist with her passion for supporting individuals in their personal and professional growth through her work. As an experienced mentor, business, and organizational coach, she guides people in complex life situations today – whether in private contexts, in the business sphere, or on their artistic career paths. Her work is deeply influenced by a profound understanding of creative processes, a values-oriented mindset, and her ability to inspire others to transcend their limits.
Désirée Meiser was born in Königstein im Taunus (Germany) and spent her early childhood years in the USA (NY). After completing high school, she studied history and theater studies in Berlin before completing her training at the State Drama School in Hannover.
Her first engagement as an actress was at the Staatstheater Darmstadt before she was permanently engaged at the Theater Basel under Frank Baumbauer starting in 1988. Meanwhile, she expanded her artistic skills with professional vocal training and increasingly transitioned into music theater. She participated in numerous productions as a singer and performer, especially at the Theater Basel.
In 1993, she began developing and directing her own music theater projects, including for the Theater Basel, the Opera São Carlos in Lisbon, and the Teatro La Fenice in Venice. These projects early on showcased her ability to create creative bridges and realize innovative ideas in collaboration with others – a competency that continues to play a central role in her current work as a coach.
In 2002, she co-founded “Gare du Nord,” the station for contemporary music in Basel, with music dramaturg Ute Haferburg. As artistic director, she shaped the cultural life of Basel and beyond for over 22 years. She realized numerous projects and collaborations, including with the Lucerne Festival, the Hochschule für Musik Basel, and the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. At the same time, she served as a mentor for master’s students in music education, actively promoting the next generation.
Based on her extensive expertise, Désirée Meiser decided to further develop her skills through training as a values-oriented Master of Coaching as well as a certified business coach and certified organizational coach (SAM). Today, she works as a professional systemic coach and consultant according to the St. Gallen Model (SCM). Her work aims to build bridges between challenges and solutions, and between goals and potentials.
Désirée Meiser is mother of three adult children.
