Désirée Meiser – Building Bridges Between Art, Coaching, and Personal Development

Désirée Meiser connects her extensive experience as an artist with her passion for enabling individuals in their personal and professional growth through her work. As an experienced mentor, business, and organizational coach, she assists people in navigating complex life situations today – whether in private contexts, within the business realm, or along their artistic career paths. Her work is deeply shaped by a profound understanding of creative processes, a values-driven mindset, and her talent for inspiring others to surpass their limitations.

Désirée Meiser was born in Königstein im Taunus (Germany) and spent her early childhood years in the USA (NY). After finishing high school, she studied history and theater studies in Berlin, eventually completing her training at the State Drama School in Hannover.

Her first role as an actress was at the Staatstheater Darmstadt before she became permanently engaged at the Theater Basel under Frank Baumbauer in 1988. During this time, she enhanced her artistic skills with professional vocal training and gradually shifted into music theater. She took part in numerous productions as a singer and performer, particularly at the Theater Basel.

In 1993, she began creating and directing her own music theater projects, including for the Theater Basel, the Opera São Carlos in Lisbon, and the Teatro La Fenice in Venice. These early projects highlighted her ability to build creative bridges and realize innovative ideas in collaboration with others – a skill that continues to be central to her current work as a coach.

In 2002, she co-founded “Gare du Nord,” a hub for contemporary music in Basel, alongside music dramaturg Ute Haferburg. As the artistic director, she influenced the cultural landscape of Basel and beyond for more than 22 years. She developed numerous projects and partnerships, including with the Lucerne Festival, the Hochschule für Musik Basel, and the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. Concurrently, she acted as a mentor for master’s students in music education, actively nurturing the next generation.

Based on her rich expertise, Désirée Meiser chose to develop her skills further by training as a values-oriented systemic coach following the St. Gallen Model (SCM). She is now trained as a systemic Master of Coaching, a Master of Business Coaching, a Team Coach, and a certified Coach in Systemic Constellations.

Her work is focused on building bridges between challenges and solutions, between goals and potentials.

Désirée Meiser is the mother of three adult children.
